Lynh has always been interested in fashion design. Since she was a child, she has
drawn clothes and designed patterns. She didn’t tell her parents, who have their own
business, that she wanted to turn her hobby into a career. She thought they expected her
to help them run the family business, so she went to university to study business administration.
After graduation, Lynh moved to Ho Chi Minh City and worked in an advertising
agency. She had to attend some events but couldn't afford the designer clothes she liked.
Then she started making dresses for herself.
When her friends saw her dresses, they asked her to make clothes for them. This
encouraged her to start up on her own. She decided to leave her advertising job, take out
a VND 200 million loan and begin her own womenswear label.
Contrary to her initial thought, Lynh’s parents were not furious about her career
change. They said they would support her, which really made her happy. Her clothes are
now on sale in a local store and her business has an income of over VND 50 million. A
model chose her clothes to wear and appeared in a fashion show. Now she has just gained
public recognition and she knows she is extremely lucky. 'What I do for a living is also
my hobby. I’m very pleased that I've worked hard for this,’ Lynh said.
